Summer at Le Château de La Messardière
Destinations
Château de La Messardière is widely known as one of Saint-Tropez’s most exclusive addresses. Transformed into a luxury resort, it majestically surveys the Bay of Pampelonne.
A Tropezian legend.
On the hills of Saint-Tropez, an historic property stands in the midst of an estate of pinewoods and gardens: Château de La Messardière. Built in the 19th century, the castle was a wedding present for Henri Brisson de la Messardière, an officer and excellent horse-rider, and Louise Dupuy D’Angeac, a young artist and musician. In 1904, the family residence was transformed into an hotel, becoming an iconic place to stay in Saint-Tropez in the Roaring ‘Twenties. The spirit of Château, now entirely redesigned as a resort, remains unchanged.

The new resort
A stay at Château de La Messardière means experiencing a new kind of resort and thus benefiting from a wide variety of prestigious amenities and services, such as a Mini-Moke placed at your disposal to ride to the Place des Lices. On its 30.87-acre estate, Château de La Messardière offers 99 Rooms and Suites including an apartment of 170 m2 nestling in one of its towers with a private pool and terrace, a Spa Valmont of 1,000 sqm, four restaurants (Carrara, Matsuhisa, L’Auberge des Maures, La Table d’Estoublon), a buffet served from breakfast to lunch time at La Table de La Messardière, three bars (including two pool bars), plus four swimming pools, one reserved exclusively for children at the Airelles Summer Camp, a villa of 500 sqm specially dedicated to them. Two addresses in town complete the hotel’s offerings, the restaurants Cookoovaya and Zetta, as well as a private beach, the Jardin Tropézina, shared with Le Pan Deï Palais. Hitherto unseen in the region…
Luxury, quietness… and sport!
Château de La Messardière also stands out for its array of sports activities, appealing to its most energetic vacationers. Benefit from a yoga session early in the morning, followed by a few strokes in the lap-pool. You can also attend aquasport classes (aquagym, aquabike). But that’s not all: depending on your mood, go jogging in Château’s gardens, hit a few balls on one of the estate’s tennis courts, and don’t miss out on playing “pétanque”! To complete its offerings, Château de La Messardière also places a gym with a view and the latest Technogym equipment at your disposal. Archery, Laser Fun, Bubble Foot, pony rides… children can also get the workouts they need.
“The Château de La Messardière also stands out for its array of sports activities, appealing to its most energetic vacationers.”
Exploring the Côte d’Azur
Finally, the experience of a summer stay at Château de La Messardière also means discovering the region with many adventures on sea, air or land! On the programme, an excursion on a traditional “pointu” boat, a getaway on a Riva as the sun goes down; escapades to Gordes, Monaco or the Château d’Estoublon by helicopter, but also flights over the Verdon Gorges; escapism on a side-car to explore the region’s vineyards, or initiation in polo at Saint-Tropez’s Polo Club. The team of Concierges at Château is ready to plan with you a tailormade programme.

Saint-Tropez sets sail
Destinations
There’ll be a party atmosphere in Saint-Tropez during the 23rd ‘Voiles de Saint-Tropez’ festival. For two weeks, the iconic village steps back in time to welcome 250 of the best sailors from around the world. It’s a unique event originally borne of two sailors challenging each other.
The story began in 1981 when Dick Jayson and his Swan 44 arrived at Saint Tropez’s port – a fashionable place welcoming celebrities from all over the world – and Jean Laurain challenged him to a race. The next day, they left from the foot of the Portalet Tower at Saint-Tropez.
From this, the Niourlague Race was born and ran for many years until, in 1999, it became the ‘Voiles de Saint-Tropez’ under the auspices of the Saint-Tropez Nautical Society.

Today it is considered a highlight of the sailing world and every year, this iconic meeting attracts some of the most beautiful boats in the world, with traditional boats and the most avant-garde sailors coming together for this (almost) fortnight-long event.
Airelles properties in Saint-Tropez are putting out the flags to welcome its guests during the festival. Set in the heart of the town close to the port, Pan Deï Palais is the ideal place to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Saint-Tropez. With 12 Rooms and Suites, Dolceva restaurant and a secret garden with an azur pool, Pan Deï Palais is a luxurious oasis where you can enjoy an indulgent breakfast, a sweet and savoury minibar, soft drinks by the pool and many other services.
“A highlight of the sailing world.”
“Château de La Messardière is in an exceptional location, a little higher in the Ramatuelle hills.”
Inside Airelles
Château de La Messardière is in an exceptional location, a little higher in the Ramatuelle hills, overlooking Pampelonne Bay. Surrounded by pine trees, ancient olive groves, vegetable gardens and swimming pools, the 12.5 hectare resort with 103 Rooms and Suites is the perfect place to reconnect with nature in a place renowned throughout the world.
As well as a generous breakfast, guests also enjoy access to the brand-new Valmont Spa and exclusive acces to Jardin Tropézina, the beach club of the hotel. With private transfers to the beach or town centre in a Mini Moke or a Rolls Royce Culliman, Château de La Messardière keeps the spirit of the upscale Riviera residences of time gone by alive.
Once again, ‘Les Voiles de Saint Tropez’, a colourful event which has remained popular throughout the years, brings together sailors from around the world. It starts on Saturday September 25.
